Is a Wedding Celebrant the same as an MC(Master of Ceremonies)?
So today we’re discussing a question I get asked all the time…
Question: “Is a Celebrant the same thing as an MC ie. Master of Ceremonies? Does the Celebrant do the same job as an MC? And if not, what’s the difference?”
Answer: Simple answer is No. A Celebrant, like me, is an Officiant. Someone who performs and conducts personalised wedding ceremonies. Someone who captures then tells the story of your love in a unique way after getting to know you as a couple.
An MC, like Ife Ade @mr_ifektive pictured here getting the dancefloor going, on the other hand, is the chief entertainment officer and communicator for your wedding reception. An MC links up all the elements, after the ceremony, that make up the rest of your your special day. He has years’ experience and on a recent podcast episode I was a part of, he perfectly broke down what good MC’s like him do.
Throughout your special day, they focus on keeping your proceedings running to time by working closely with all your other wedding vendors and they will keep everyone informed, both suppliers and guests, make all announcements clearly using the correct protocols and etiquette whilst matching your personalities too.
And a Celebrant-led wedding with an MC runs so seamlessly. And the more they enjoy what they do, the better. With the hundreds of ceremonies under my belt over the decade plus I’ve conducted them, I can’t stress enough how much a good MC can make your special day stress and anxiety free.
I’m more than happy to connect you with some of the best MC’s in the industry that I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Just click the button below, or send me a message, and we can start panning your happily ever after together.
